The story begins with a flashback of what was once called the Mirror House. An incident occurs in the mansion where they are attacked by morphs, forcing Catherine and her maid to flee. Catherine is attacked and turns into a pitch-black morph, unable to move. Fifty years later, the child in her womb was born. That child is Kate, and she is raised by her maid.
Kate grows up as a human, but by the time she turns 12, she is covered in soot and turns completely black. After learning the truth about her birth, she decides to return to Mirror House (now Shadow House).
Kate infiltrates the Shadow House and disguises herself as Emilico. She decides to rescue Emilico, who is gradually being brainwashed, and she decides to face the darkness of the Shadow House.
