Synopsis
This blog contains spoilers. This story can be summed up in one word: “The story is about the main character, Tanjiro Kamado, who tries to take the head of his enemy, the demon commander Muzan Kibutsuji, in order to turn his sister Nezuko, who has become a demon, back into a human.” It’s a moving story that moves at a very good pace and is filled with laughter and tears.
Thoughts
Both good people and bad demons die, so this is not recommended for people who don’t like seeing people die. Both demons and humans have pasts, and their stories are so sad that even enemy demons shed tears when they die. The characters’ feelings and conflicts are detailed, and the more you read, the more you’re drawn to it. It’s so interesting that I read it over and over again even while writing the synopsis.
Volume 1
One night, the Kamado family is attacked by a demon. When Tanjiro returns home, his family has been brutally murdered, but his younger sister Nezuko is the only one alive.
Tanjiro hurries down the snowy road in search of a doctor to save Nezuko, but along the way, Nezuko mutates into a demon and, starving, she attacks Tanjiro, her older brother.
At this time, Giyu Tomioka of the Demon Slayer Corps appears. Nezuko shows signs of protecting Tanjiro even though she is a demon, and Giyuu, who sees hope in this, introduces Tanjiro to Urokodaki Sakonji.
Nezuko wears a bamboo gag in her mouth to prevent her from attacking humans, and Tanjiro aims to join the Demon Slayer Corps in order to return her sister to a human and to defeat the demons that attacked her family.
Volume 2
Tanjiro aims to join the Demon Slayer Corps and takes on the final selection. There, he defeats the strange demon that killed Sabito and Makoto, and passes the final selection.
Tanjiro has a sword made called the Nichirinto that can decapitate demons, and immediately sets out on his first demon hunt as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps. Together with Nezuko, he succeeds in destroying three swamp demons that target only 16-year-old girls.
At his next command in Asakusa, Tokyo, he encounters Kibutsuji Muzan, the founder of demons. He lets Kibutsuji escape, but meets Tamayo and Yushiro, who become powerful allies.
Volume 3
Defeat the demons Susamaru and Yahaba who attacked Tamayo and Yushiro’s hideout. After breaking up with Tamayo and Yushiro, Tanjiro and Nezuko encounter Zenitsu crying to a girl on the roadside. Together with Zenitsu, who has a strong fear, he heads to his next command destination.
The next destination is Kyougai’s mansion. Zenitsu was the type of swordsman who could show off his abilities by losing consciousness when his fear reached its peak. At Kyogai’s mansion, he meets Inosuke, who will be traveling with him from now on.
Zenitsu and Inosuke each defeat the demon, and Tanjiro also manages to defeat Kyougai, who uses a special blood demon technique that changes the space when he beats the drum.
Volume 4
When they leave Kyougai’s mansion, the box containing Nezuko is attacked by Inosuke.
Thanks to Zenitsu, who protects the box even though it is in tatters, Nezuko is safe.
He takes a rest at the house with the wisteria flower family crest, and his next destination is Natagumo Mountain.
At Natagumo Mountain, a family of demons with spider powers attacked civilians and demon slayers in large numbers.
Although he is frightened, runs away, cries, screams, and is hit with a poison that turns him into a spider, Zenitsu fights the spider demon using his lightning breath.
In reality, Zenitsu was an abandoned child with no parents and was deceived by a woman and was in debt, but he was rescued and raised by a lightning-breathing nurturer.
Volume 5
Zenitsu, who was poisoned and on the verge of death, managed to defeat the spider demon and was saved by Shinobu Kocho, an insect pillar.
Inosuke is seriously injured in a fight with a giant spider demon, but is saved by Giyu Tomioka. Tanjiro uses Hinokami Kagura in his fight with Rui, and Nezuko learns Bakketsu.
Tanjiro and Nezuko have a hard time due to the overwhelming power of Rui, but they escape from the crisis by relying on the power of Nezuko’s fiery blood and her father’s Kagura as seen in Somato.
Giyuu delivers the final blow to Kumo Oni, who plays his father, and Rui. When Rui was a human, he was weak and was turned into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji, and he ended up killing his own parents.
He misses his parents and creates a fake family. Then, his parents, who died just before he was destroyed, appear before him, and they both head to hell.
Volume 6
Tanjiro and his friends defeated the spider demon family.
The relief is short-lived, but Shinobu Kocho targets the demon Nezuko. Giyuu tries to stop them, but Tanjiro and Nezuko are put on trial at the Ubuyashiki-tei, the head of the Demon Slayer Corps.
In addition to Tanjiro and Nezuko, nine pillars had gathered at Ubuyashikutei. Most of the pillars become suspicious of Tanjiro and Nezuko and try to eliminate them.
However, Nezuko withstood the provocation of the wind pillar Sanemi Shinazugawa and was able to prove that she does not attack people.
Afterwards, Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu are taken in by Shinobu’s mansion and work hard at resting and training.
Thanks in part to the efforts of Shinobu’s successor, Kanao and his friends, Tanjiro and his friends acquire the technique “Full Concentration/Concentration” and power up.
Volume 7
The movie “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train” is based on volumes 7 and 8!
With new orders, Tanjiro boards the “Mugen Train” and heads off to exterminate the demons lurking on the train, along with Rengoku Kyojurothe of Flame Pillar.
As soon as Tanjiro and his friends get their tickets cut by the conductor of the Mugen Train, they are dragged into a dream by Enmu’s blood demon technique.
In each of their dreams, their “spiritual cores” are about to be destroyed, but thanks to Nezuko’s blood demon technique, they are able to wake up from their dreams.
Rengoku, Zenitsu, and Nezuko wake up from the dream to protect the passengers on the train and work together with Tanjiro and Inosuke to take on Enmu…!
Extra edition This is an episode from Kanao’s upbringing until he was taken in by the Butterfly House. Shinobu’s older sister Kanae also appears.
Volume 8
The movie “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train” is based on volumes 7 and 8!
Before he could feel relieved after defeating Enmu, Akaza, the third-ranked member of the enemy’s top 12, appeared. A very belligerent Aquarius scouts Purgatory, asking, “Would you like to become a demon?”
Rengoku, who sees the beauty in human fragility, naturally declines the invitation. Tanjiro and Inosuke are unable to assist in the battle between the two, who have overwhelming speed and power.
Rengoku is prepared to take on Aquarius, but he fails to cut off Aquarium’s neck just one step away, and before sunrise, Aquarium runs away.
Rengoku’s stomach is pierced by Aquarium’s arm, and he is on the verge of death. Rengoku recognizes Nezuko, who risks her life to fight for humans, and dies, placing her hope in Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu. Tanjiro heads to Rengoku’s house and tries to convey Kyojuro’s last words to his family, but he clashes with Rengoku’s father.
He couldn’t even get a clue about the “breath of the sun.” Tanjiro returns to the butterfly mansion and encounters Uzui Tengen, a sound pillar who tries to take Aoi Yanaho away. Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke head to the red light district, the next mission, in Aoi’s place.
